Located on Peachy Canyon Road, Nadeau Vineyards is the personal label of winemaker Robert Nadeau. This label gained notoriety with wine affiants because of a shared property line with DAOU. The Nadeau Vineyard produces 1500 cases of wine per year but is best known for Zinfandel. Robert has made wine for prominent Paso Robles labels like Peachy Canyon, Opolo and Norman. We arrived unannounced an found the winemaker pouring behind the bar inside. Enjoy a tasting flight for $10 which includes Syrah, Tempranillo and Petite Sirah. Included in our photos is “The Siren,” made by local artist Denise Braun Bundy. This image is the new label for the Dry Rose. Outside food and pets are welcome in the patio area. This location also features chocolates from Marsha Herman.

  • 2013 Mixed Black
The Grenache provides the blend with a slight earthiness and pepper character, while the Zinfandel in the blend really pulls the fruity raspberry notes forward, and the Petite Sirah lends its’ dark color and abundant soft tannins to the finished blend. This wine will likely benefit from an additional couple of years of bottle ageing.
  • 2014 Pinot Gris
Pinot Blanc (AKA Pinot Grigio) is a delicate white wine with subdued fruitiness, which drinks great by itself yet also accompanies delicate fare and cheeses beautifully.
  • 2014 RVR
This elegantly-structured wine features a pleasant, round mouthfeel with dark fruit aromas and flavors. French and American oak barrel-aging has given the subtle oak tannins accompanied by a variety of spice nuances. The Grenache provides the blend with an earthiness and pepper character, and the Syrah in the blend really pulls the dark stone fruit notes forward. The Counoise lends its grapey, fruity character which really complements this blend. This wine will certainly benefit from additional aging in the cellar. We enjoy this wine with lamb and other moderately-spiced protein. For Veggie lovers, eggplant cutlets with a tomato/basil sauce would be complemented by this wine.
  • 2014 Sangiovese
This food-friendly, medium bodied Sangiovese wine combines fruit forward characters, soft approachable tannins, and delightful aromatics. This wine has several years of life awaiting it for those who enjoy their wines with some extra bottle ageing. This wine will not disappoint.
  • 2014 Tempranillo
Dark and opulent, this racy wine is redolent of bright fruit aromas married with spicy undertones from having been aged in 20% new French oak. The long finish displays an interesting phenolic profile, which seems to span the tongue with abundant-yet-soft tannins. The wine displayed pronounced cedar/cigar box aromas earlier in its development, and more than a hint of this remains to this day.
  • 2015 Viognier
the descriptors are classic Viognier: floral, fruity, and very approachable! Viognier is one of the less pronounceable Rhone varieties but is one which has become a favorite “alternative” white wine for many American consumers who’ve grown bored with the ubiquitous offerings of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

  • 2015 Zinfandel "Critical Mass"
The Nadeau Family Vintners’ is yet another big Nadeau Zinfandel replete with an abundance of jammy aromatics . A subtle spiciness reminiscent of crushed black pepper complements the abundant fruitiness as does the American and French oak used in the aging of this wine. The pronounced black cherry/raspberry aromas follow through to the palate where the taster enjoys fruity flavors framed with a complimentary addition of soft tannins and a very slight oak nuance.
  • 2013 Zinfandel Late Harvest
Its dark color invites the taster to experience the abundant Black Cherry and Raspberry aromas. The first sip reveals a dense yet lush, fruity wine with plenty of residual sugar to complement any chocolate dessert as well as strong cheeses, fine cigars, and stimulating conversation.
