Edna Valley features a small collection of tasting rooms that begin near San Luis Obispo Airport. Highway 227 is the main road through Edna Valley and wineries will be located on both sides. Tasting rooms are also located along Orcutt Road. We recommend sunset at Wolff Vineyards or play bocce ball at Baileyana. Wine featured in this region is primarily cool weather Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Albarino and Sauvignon Blanc. Coastal temperatures extend the growing season for Rhone varietals like Syrah and Grenache. Pack a picnic lunch or enjoy sandwiches at the Old Edna Deli, shared by the Sextant Tasting Room.
Arroyo Grande Valley features a small collection of tasting rooms that can be accessed from the 101 Freeway. This region includes well known labels like Talley and Leticia. Wines featured in this region include cool weather Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The Arroyo Grande AVA boarders the southern portion of Edna Valley and the locations pair well locations in neighboring regions. Choose your favorite labels ahead of time and bring a picnic lunch.
Avila Beach is best known for hot springs and golf resorts. Our favorite activity in Avila Beach is the Bob Jones Bike trail that follows San Luis Obispo Creek for 2.5 miles. The downtown area is home to surf shops, souvenir s stores and restaurants. Estate Wineries are located along Price Canyon and 5 tasting rooms occupy the downtown. Parking is normally available on adjacent streets when spaces along the beach are full.
Pismo Beach is a popular destination for tourists traveling up the 101 Freeway. Pismo Beach has the largest collection of hotels in the area that are seaside. The downtown area is home to coffee shops, restaurants and retail locations. Pier accessibility, ice-cream and cinnamon rolls, made this our favorite place for sunset. Pismo Beach has our favorite Sans Liege Tasting room but does not host any other labels at this time.
