  • 2013 Artisan Cuvee Meritage
Dark ruby. Complex aromas of currant, oak, plum and earthy mocha. Bright up front palate shows intense berry fruit with a cassis edge opening up to a middle of plum and mocha flavors. Finishes with fine, soft tannin structure and vanilla oak.
  • 2014 Dry Humour
“DRY HUMOUR” A dry, Alsatian style wine. Pale straw color. Fresh aromas highlighted by tangerine, green apple and a hint of peach. Bright palate of balanced fruit-salad and creamy texture. Finishes dry and refreshing.
  • 2013 Merlot
Medium-dark ruby color. Rich, enticing aromas of cherry, cassis, mocha, oak and a background note of earthy tobacco spice. Ripe, lush palate of blueberry-currant fruit with layers of mocha and dry herb – showing very nice palate texture. The “tobacco” note comes through with some air and the overall structure is fat (but) with medium tannins. Complex Merlot – multi-faceted, showing the best of Penman’s Merlot fruit character. Very “upper-shelf” quality that can challenge Napa-Sonoma Merlots.
  • 2013 Old Block Cabernet Sauvignon
“OLD BLOCK” Ruby color. Pretty aromas of currant, mocha, black cherry, and oak. Elegant, supple palate with currant and black cherry framed by nicely integrated oak. Finishes with mocha and blueberry.
  • 2012 Penman Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
Dark, dense ruby. Rich elegant nose of ripe currant, hints of cedar and raspberry. Bright palate with nicely textured dark plum, currant and berry spice. Long finish with loamy earth and fine oak complexities. Fruit intensity and tannins to age well for 10 years.
  • 2013 Petite Sirah
Moderate-dark blackish-ruby color. Rich, spicy blackberry, dark plum, earthy cocoa aromas with background oak. Lush, round palate impression with varietal plum-berry fruit, a soft cocoa-blackberry middle and finely-integrated oak adding “fatness” and complexity. Textbook Petite Sirah character with only moderate tannins – virtually “elegant” for the varietal. Sinfully drinkable now but should evolve for another 2-3+ years. Long cocoa-berry finish with oak underneath. Very “polished” style.
  • 2012 Syrah
Dark ruby color – good saturation. Well-oaked aromas of earthy plum, dark berry spice and light “savory meatiness.” Lush palate – rich, very well-structured flavors of meaty blackberry, dark plum, cocoa, earth spices and a hint of violet. Excellent tannins, full middle fruit and a long finish – complex Penman Syrah! The oak level integrates well with the big fruit and tannins. A rich mouthful that is drinkable now, will be better in 2-3 years, and can go for a decade. Obviously one of our very best Syrahs ever.
