  • 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2014 Montecillo invites you in with a fragrant nose of red berries, spice cake, and India ink, followed by layers of red, blue, & black fruitsand savory earth on the palate. Firm, well-formed mountain tannins arebalanced by a wonderful freshness and velvety texture, complete with anoble, lengthy finish. Easily enjoyed now with a quick decant or for thenext decade to come.
  • 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2014 Estate has all the markings of a classic Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Ripe red berries and fragrant forest fruit abound on the nose, matched on the palate with smooth, fine-grained tannin. The wine is an elegant expression of the Estate vineyard, balancing sweet spice with savory herbs, flavors that are elongated by the smooth texture and long, graceful finish. Immensely enjoyable now, and can easily age over the next 5 to 10 years as well.
  • 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon
Powerful, layered, complex and savory: the 2014 Dragon Cabernet is unmistakably from Howell Mountain. Dark fruits, black olive tapenade, smoked game and pepper on the nose give way to a full, structured palate, with notes of sweet leather and spice. Formidable, well-defined tannin means this wine will age for many years to come, or enjoyed now with a healthy decanting.
  • 2014 Cedarman
Cedarman is a proprietary blend of fruit from both Rattlesnake Ridge and Dragon Vineyards. Although primarily Zinfandel/ we use a small amount of Petite Syrah from the Rattlesnake vineyard as well. The result is a truly powerful, dense and wild wine, long on flavor. Peppery spice and dark brambly fruits on the nose, but the palate is where this wine really takes off! Bold, enticing herbs, spice & fruit, healthy tannins and a phenomenal long finish. We recommend decanting to unleash all of Cedarman’s sylvan charm!
  • 2014 Judge Bell
As our new winery is located on Bell Road, we named this wine for the eponymous (and notorious) “hanging” Judge Bell, who presided over the nearby town of Plymouth during its Gold Rush heyday. Harking from vines that average 80 years of age, the wine shows quintessential Amador granitic tannins & briary fruits. An intensely brooding wine, the 2014 Judge Bell is the darkest to date. Red fruits, braised meats and graphite on the nose lead into a deep palate with medium weight & tannin.
  • 2013 Paso Robles Zinfandel
This certified organic estate-owned vineyard was planted in the 1920’s on primarily limestone soil. Though the vines are head-trained and dry-farmed, the soil plays the most important role in distinguishing this vineyard on the west side of Paso Robles. The wines have a lightness and aromas unique to the site, with crushed-mineral and floral characteristics not normally seen in Zinfandel
  • 2006 Petite Syrah
Otty Hayne planted the Hayne Petite Syrah in 1953 while he was home from college visiting his grandfather. All head-trained, dry-farmed and organic, this Petite Syrah is one of the most unique wines in California. Powerful and inky in its youth, the wine becomes more feminine and refined with age and will outlive us all.
  • 2014 Petite Syrah
Primarily Petite Syrah vines mixed with a myriad of others, including; Peloursin, Cinsault, Syrah, Mission, Alicante Bouschet, Grand Noir, Carignan, Grenache and Zinfandel. There are also a number of white grapes such as Muscat Alexandria, Muscadelle, Burger and Green Hungarian. We pick them all together to make a wine truly expressive of the vineyard. Dynamic, fragrant, and gorgeously complex, with aromas ranging from the floral (lavender) to savory (black olive) and beyond; smell it out of a black glass, and you might be hard-pressed to pin it as a red wine. Medium-plus tannins are tempered by the compelling acidity. One of the most special vineyards in California, it never fails to impress.
  • 2014 Petite Syrah
This estate-owned and certified organic vineyard was planted by the Turley team using cuttings from the Hayne vineyard. Head-trained, dry-farmed and planted in limestone, the wines are dark, smooth, dense and classic Petite Syrah. As the vines age the wines are increasingly expressive of the Pesenti Vineyard with minerality, savory spices and high tone pepper. Unmistakably Pesenti Petite. Powerful purple fruits, ink, and dust, with lifted white pepper notes as well. The palate is immense, with medium plus tannin that would greatly benefit from decanting even a few hours ahead of time!
  • 2014 Petite Syrah
Otty Hayne planted the Hayne Petite Syrah in 1953 while he was home from college visiting his grandfather. All head-trained, dry-farmed and organic, this Petite Syrah is one of the most unique wines in California. Powerful and inky in its youth, the wine becomes more feminine and refined with age and will outlive us all. Deep, dark, layer upon layer of aromas & flavors. Every time you put your nose in the glass or take a sip, something else comes to mind. Violets, ripe plum, Indian ink, & herbs. Elegant texture, noble tannins, all-around phenomenal. Highly recommend decanting or can easily cellar for many years to come!
  • 2014 The White Coat
Though the blend has changed over the years, White Coat (named for Larry’s past as an Emergency Room physician) comprises rich, textured Roussanne from Rattlesnake Ridge on Howell Mountain moderated by acidity and structure of Grenache Blanc from Pesenti Vineyard. Recently we’ve added a bit of Vermentino from Amador, as well as some extra Grenache Blanc and a little Verdelho from Lodi. The result is a unique, dynamic white wine that is truly California. The 2014 is classic White Coat, with layers of ripe stone fruits, spice, and minerals. A little extra time in bottle (thanks to moving it to the fall mailer) serves the palate well, as the myriad flavors are even more integrated & well balanced!
  • 2014 Zinfandel
Located on the top of the Vaca Mountains in northeastern Napa Valley, this vineyard sits at 1700 feet in between the southern end of Howell Mountain and just north of Pritchard Hill. Grown by Jay Heminway, the vines benefit from the moderating climate above Lake Hennessey. The wines are classic Napa Valley mountain fruit with great tannin. Another jewel of a site, this vineyard is unlike anything else around…since nothing surrounds it! Sitting atop a plateau overlooking both Napa & Chiles valley, the wine has an almost Northern Rhône-like quality, with savory herbs, smoked pepper, and lovely blue fruits to boot. East-facing so the mountain tannins, while present, are deliciously well-balanced.
  • 2014 Zinfandel
This certified organic estate-owned vineyard was planted in the 1920’s on primarily limestone soil. Though the vines are head-trained and dry-farmed, the soil plays the most important role in distinguishing this vineyard on the west side of Paso Robles. The wines have a brightness, and chalk and floral characteristic aromas unique to the site, and to Zinfandel in general. Drought stress and low yields in the vineyard lend more depth than ever before to this iteration of Pesenti. Bright fruits like red & black cherry on the nose pull you in, with lively acidity balanced by the dry, slightly dusty tannin make for an intensely gratifying palate.
  • 2014 Zinfandel
Salvador Vineyard in Contra Costa County is a paragon of old vine Zinfandel. These organically farmed vines were planted on their own roots in 1896. The roots are free to roam deeply as the soil is solid sand for 40 feet down. The wine is stunning: suave, complex and powerfully elegant. A bright, lifted nose of red fruits, dried flowers & sandalwood, and an incredibly dense yet lithe texture on the palate. This wine feels like truly old-school California, reminiscent of what wine might’ve tasted like when it was first made from these vines well over 100 years ago!
  • 2014 Zinfandel
Hailing from 1937, these certified organic vines are some of the most unique we’ve ever seen. Just a mile and a half from the Napa border on the Sonoma side of the Mayacamas, the vines are planted along steep, contoured terraces. Finding old vineyards is rare enough, but ancient hillside head-trained vines located 900 feet up? Downright extraordinary. There’s so much going on in the ’14 Fredericks, it’s hard to know where to begin. Baking spices, pure blue fruits, smoldering embers, and liqueur comprise the nose, while the palate shows ripe dark blue & black fruits, satiating umami flavors, and well-resolved mountain tannins. A complete, utterly expressive wine that’s drinking exceptionally well now!
  • 2014 Zinfandel
Planted in 1885, Ueberroth is the oldest of our Zinfandel vineyards. Located closer to the sea than any other site we work with, you can smell the salt air from the top of the hill. These ungrafted, head-trained vines are planted on very steep limestone slopes. The high pH of the soil makes for a very high acid wine, elevating the ripe fruit flavors from this historic certified organic vineyard. Imagine all the flavors of Pesenti, turned up to 11. Though the sites share many similarities, one big difference is that Ueberroth’s vines are 40 years older, and it shows. More structure, density, and extraction; greater tannin, darker fruits, and even more powerful. A perfectly balanced monolith of a wine.
  • 2014 Zinfandel
Located in Sonoma County, this vineyard is nearly hidden in downtown Santa Rosa. Planted in 1915 on 2.5 acres, the vineyard is farmed organically by Alida Morzenti, granddaughter of the Zampattis. The Zinfandel vines are interspersed with Palomino & Golden Chasselas, and planted on a cool sloping site with large rocks scattered throughout the warm Franciscan soils. The wines are balanced, aromatic, bright and beautiful. Exuberant and extremely fragrant, the ’14 Zampatti has got it goin’ ON. Black cherry & raspberry jam, black olives, and the warm stony soils are all evident on the nose. Excellent pepper & spice, bright, buoyant acidity, and a light on its feet texture, even at 15.abv!

Old Vines is composed of a variety of old sites from California that are either too small to be made into a vineyard designate wine or are “new” to the Turley family (and way of farming). Vines are anywhere from 41 to 129 years old, and a true representation of California old vine Zinfandel/ hailing from vineyards in Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, Lodi, Contra Costa, Amador and Paso Robles. There is no better way to gauge the classic character of old vine Zinfandel in California than through this wine. In true old vine fashion, this wine was one of the hardest hit by the drought, and production was down 40% as a result. What a pity, as the wine sure is pretty…2014 has pure, powerful fruits, appetizing spice, and the kind of natural weight, depth, and extraction that can only come from old vines.

  • 2014 Zinfandel
Planted in 1944, the Dogtown Vineyard is farmed by Turley Wine Cellars. This head-trained, own-rooted vineyard is within the Clements Hills AVA, which has more topography than the rest of Lodi. The rolling hills are composed of clay and volcanic soils, and vine yields are consistently the lowest of all our vineyards. Deepest nose on a Dogtown to date, replete with dark ripe fruits, black tea, and a touch of citrus zest. The depth carries through to the palate, with more black fruits, Asian spices, and wet, baked clay. Will age well.
  • 2014 Zinfandel
The Hayne Vineyard is one of our most exceptional sites. Located in an idyllic warm yet breezy spot on the west side of St. Helena, we are honored to have worked with this vineyard and the Hayne family for over twenty years. The property has been in the same family since 1876, and the head-trained, dry-farmed Zinfandel vines, planted in 1902 and 1903, produce wines of power and elegance. Year after year, this wine serves as the archetype for Zinfandel and Napa Valley. The Hayne Zinfandel is a true thoroughbred: profound, elegant, complex, and all-around impressive. Each element—delicate aromatics, lively acidity, powerful red, blue & black fruits and well-composed tannin—in perfect harmony with one another.

The Dusi vineyard was planted by Dante Dusi in 1945 and it is farmed by his family to this day. The vines are head-trained and dry-farmed, planted in soil that is mostly alluvial with some very large rocks.  Like our other vineyards in the area, Dusi is on the west side of Paso Robles. The wine tends to be soft round and wonderfully approachable.
