Located in Solvang, Rideau Winery is serving estate grown wine in a historic tasting room. Built in 1884 "El Alamo Pinado Adobe" was constructed with adobe bricks made on the property. The Victorian trim and second story were rare for the time period and do not fit the conventional adobe form. This property served as a ranch until 1996 when the property was purchased by Iris Rideau, and converted into a winery. Today, winemaker Adrienne St. John is crafting wine from the estate grown varietals Grenache, Syrah, Mourverde, Viognier and Roussanne. Enjoy a tasting flight ($15), a reserve flight ($18) or charcuterie platter ($18). This location also serves flat bread pizzas until 4:30 p.m. Outside food items are still welcome. Rideau Winery hosts an indoor tasting bar, an enclosed patio and picnic tables with umbrellas. During our visit we also saw numerous children taking advantage of the free Wi-Fi. Reservations are required for groups larger than 6.

  • 2014 'La Encantada' Pinot Noir
This subtle and earthy Pinot Noir is highly reflective of the cool climate region where it grows. Aromas of cedar box, hard spice, and wet soil are brightened by lovely hints of bing cherry and redcurrant. A fine acidity and hearty tannins add structure to the palate, which bears notes of chai spices, dark chocolate, and crushed bramble fruit.
  • Beau "Mon Cheri" Port Style Dessert Red
Aromas of ground coffee bean, fig, and dark chocolate explode on the nose. The palate is a silky and memorable marriage of sweet dried fruit and complex spice, with long notes of blackberry jam, orange blossom, and brown sugar rounding out the finish. A perfectly-aligned sweet red that will age
  • 2014 Bon Temps Red
This proprietary red blend exhibits bramble fruit and earth spice notes on the nose. Tones of dark cherry and hard spice linger.
  • 2014 Bon Temps White
This lovely white blend is perfect for pairing with many foods, showing vibrant notes of lilies and chamomile on the nose. The palate has a distinctive richness, and harbors nectarine and marzipan elements while the subtle new French oak aging adds a mild smokiness.
  • 2014 Chardonnay
A light lemon-curd component decorates the tangy yogurt and fresh lily aromas on the nose of this bottling from a historic vineyard. It is very grippy on the palate, where the intriguing texture carries flavors of orange rind, tangerine pith, lime zest and a touch of pan-roasted pine nuts.
  • 2014 Chateau Duplantier Cuvee
    Signature Rhone-style Blend
  • 2013 Daliet Estate Reserve Syrah
This small-lot bottling is made from barrels hand-selected by Owner Iris Rideau and Winemaker Adrienne St. John. It represents a truly extraordinary expression of our premium Estate Syrah fruit. The nose is meaty and intense, with spicy notes of cured meats and luscious fragrances of framboise and potpourri, while the palate explodes with dark berry, chocolate, and a memorable tannic texture. A truly age-worthy wine.
  • 2014 Daliet Estate Reserve Viognier
This small-lot bottling is made from barrels hand-selected by Iris Rideau and winemaker Adrienne St. John. It represents a truly extraordinary expression of our premium Estate Viognier fruit. Sumptuous, honeyed aromatics are backed by a stunning mineral clarity on the nose. The strikingly textured palate is a voluptuous melange of honeysuckle, baked apple, and chamomile tea carried by an electic acid
  • 2014 Estate Syrah
Our signature single-varietal red. Deep, rich notes of espresso and dark chocolate are structured by an excellent tannic backbone.
  • 2014 Estate Viognier
Mild neutral French oak contributes to this gorgeous Viognier. Rich in mouthfeel and long in finish, the exotic palate sings with dragon fruit, papaya, and orange blossom tones that accumulate in complexity along a thrilling acid foundation.
  • 2014 Garey Vineyard Pinot Noir
Classic Santa Maria Valley character, with notes of strawberry jam, baking spices, and church incense. Fruit-forward tannins support aging in this lovely Pinot Noir.
  • 2013 Lagniappe Red
Boysenberry jam and smoky potpourri aromas lead into a palate that balances a clean and distinctive acid line with fleshy wild forest fruit and black pepper nuances. Very pleasing on the palate and drinkable now, this wine is affectionately referred to by staff and club members as “Baby Dupe,” as it reminds the senses of our bolder signature Rhone blend, Chateau Duplantier Cuvee.
  • 2014 Lagniappe White
This popular Rhône-white blend shows exotic fragrances of dried tropical fruit on the nose. A rich acidity guides the palate towards a rich finish of lemon meringue.
  • 2014 Riesling
Luscious tones of honeycomb, ripe stone fruit, and eucalyptus emerge on the intensely-bright nose of our annual semi-sweet Riesling. The palate is rich and textured with enveloping layers of tropical fruit along a lithe acidity, making this an ideal pairing for spicy Asian cuisine.
  • 2014 Sangiovese
Old World structure meets New World bright fruit in this beautiful Sangiovese. Notes of hard candy, cocoa bean, and redcurrant show vibrantly on the palate.
  • 2013 Siempre Malbec
It completely envelops the senses in fleshy tones of crushed strawberry, allspice, and toasted coffee bean, while the finish leaves the palate coated in fruit-forward tannin. As stunning in grandeur as it is in balance
  • 2014 Thompson Vineyard Syrah
2014 Syrah Thompson Vineyard is another well-made wine that’s impeccably balanced, medium-bodied and loaded with charm. Giving up notes of spice, blueberry, pepper and olive, with a touch of cool climate style, it should impress for 4-6 years. This 2014 saw 17% dried stem inclusion and 17 months in 2new French oak. It’s well worth checking out
  • 2015 Zaca Mesa Roussanne
Offering a much cooler growing climate than our estate Roussanne, this lovely Roussanne shows dried plantain and honeysuckle aromatics alongside a vibrant limestone minerality on the nose. The palate brings a distinctive weight characteristic of the grape, with copious stone fruit and beeswax elements. The finish is long and wide with subtle hints of marzipan.
