Located on Highway 246 in Santa Rita Hills, Melville winery is serving 100% estate grown wine in picture perfect landscape. This property is exceptionally beautiful; we enjoyed the picnic area and trellises overlooking the vines. The tasting fee at this location ($15) is waived with a three bottle purchase. This location has vineyard to bottle tasting tours for $25 on weekends. The tours run about 75 minutes and begin at 12 p.m. and 2p.m. Groups of 8 persons or more need a reservation. No dogs inside the tasting room please. This winery pairs well with Babcock Winery which is located next door.

2014 Estate ChardonnayDelicate brass in color, with fruit driven aromatics of grilled pineapple, lemon zest, white peach and orange blossom springing from the glass. On the palate, notes of honey, fresh ginger and tarragon mingle with weightier impressions of sourdough bread, salted caramel and agave nectar. The wine boasts a rich and polished mouthfeel with a generous streak of acidity that anchors a chiseled and precise finish.

2016 Estate Chardonnay - Clone 76 InoxPale gold in color, with vivid and pure aromatics of honeydew melon, lime zest and lemongrass jumping from the glass. On the palate, hints of rock salt, citrus blossom, honey and white peach mingle with delicate floral notes of jasmine and gardenia. Texturally the wine is luxurious and plush, with an intriguing waxy component that lends weight to a generous streak of vibrant acidity supporting the wine’s elegant and satiating finish.

2013 Estate Chardonnay - Verna'sBright gold in color, aromatics of marcona almonds, lemon curd, and orange blossom honey spring from the glass. Secondary notes of baked filo dough, green papaya, and toasted macadamias also drift in the background. Oily and tender on the palate, with a streak of vibrant acidity that maintains the wine’s focus and drive.

2014 Estate Pinot NoirBrilliant ruby in color, vivid aromatics of red currants, cedar and cinnamon stick spring from the glass. On the palate, delicate and lifted floral notes of crushed rose petal and hibiscus are anchored by more tender impressions of strawberry gelatin, tangerine oil, black cherry compote and baked red apples. The mouthfeel is focused and vibrant, possessing a gorgeous mineral component along with lively acidity that augment the wine’s generous and cohesive finish.

2015 Estate Pinot Noir - Block MBold maroon hued, rich components of moist potting soil, blood orange, black cherry cola and plum skin weave alongside more lofty and high toned expressions of redwood, graphite and black tea. The wine is superbly balanced, with a plush mid-palate core that transitions seamlessly into a broad, fanned out finish with both beautiful clarity and drive.

2016 Estate Pinot Noir - RoséPale salmon in color, with delicate and heightened nuances of honeydew melon, strawberry creamsicle and grilled peach emerging up front. In the background tender notes of blood orange and pineapple mingle with lofty impressions of pink grapefruit, rose water and green tea. Boasting an elegant and supple mouthfeel along with brilliant acidity, the wine finishes with magnificent clarity and verve.

2015 Estate Pinot Noir - TerracesSoft garnet in color, with clean and vibrant aromatics of fresh cranberries, dried rose petal and pomegranate seeds emerging up front.
