Located in the Lompoc Wine Ghetto, AVE is serving up French style wine made with Napa grapes. It's no secret that AVE's wine is highly rated and made from California's most prestigious and expensive appellations. If these bottles are out of your price range, AVE tier tasting flights $15/$20/$30 will be a good deal. Don't be surprised if you find winemaker Bob Kugler pouring behind the counter in Lompoc. We did during an unannounced visit, and did not squander the opportunity to press him for details about his internship in Burgundy, France. Sigh…some people do get to live the dream.
