Located in the Lompoc Wine Ghetto, Artisan Uprising is pouring warm weather varietals that are dark and vibrant. Winemakers William and David Vondrasek are producing wine in small lots and leaving their product unfiltered to enhance texture. These brothers are handcrafting Merlot, Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot and Malbec grown in Paso Robles. Artisan Uprising also produces Neutral Blue Brandy, a spirit that can be used in place of vodka. This product is colored with the butterfly pea flower and turns pink when it is mixed with citrus. During an unannounced visit we found Billy Vondrasek pouring behind the counter. He is very passionate about the craft and is not afraid to share why his production practices are different. The tasting room at this location features lounge seating and a record collection. Enjoy a tasting flight for $15 and Ethel M. chocolate pairings for an additional $5. Check out Artisan's water truck parked outside, it makes a great prop for pictures.
