Located in Buellton, The Hitching Post II is popular for red oak barbecue and award winning wine. Steaks, vegetables and fowl are barbecued indoors behind staged glass. Pictured with this review is oak fired steak with cherry walnut sauce. The Hitching Post portfolio includes 10 different Pinot Noir selections, two Syrahs, and a Merlot- Cabernet Franc blend. Winemakers Gray Hartley and Frank Ostini produce over 15,000 cases of wine, from local appellations each year. The tasting bar at this location served as the backdrop for the 2004 movie, Sideways. Enjoy wines by the glass or a tasting flight for $9. Dinner service does not begin until 5 p.m. on weekdays and 4 p.m. on weekends. Each Hitching Post location is individually owned but both locations have been part of the same family for over 65 years. Visit the first Hitching Post in Casmalia, which opened its doors in 1952.
