Winery
Located in Livermore Valley, Wente Vineyards was founded by Carl H. Wente in 1883. Wente Vineyards has grown from 47 acres to approximately 3,000 acres spanning two appellations. The original vineyard was planted with Chardonnay cuttings from the University of Montpellier, France. Today 80% of all California Chardonnay stems from the Wente clone. This location hosts the Wente Portfolio that can be found in stores along with reserve selections that are exclusive to the tasting room. Enjoy a signature tasting flight for $15 or Winemaker Flight for $20. Patrons are welcome to enjoy outside food on weekdays. This location hosts large events and cave tours. Visit Wente Vineyards on Tesla Way, which hosts education classes at the Winemakers Studio.

2015 Louis Mel Sauvignon BlancOur Louis Mel Sauvignon Blanc is harvested when the sugars and acidity in the grapes are perfectly balanced and optimal for our finished wine. The grapes are picked cold before sunrise and brought to the winery where they are gently pressed, cold settled, and then cold fermented. All of these steps ensure that we are extracting and maintaining only the best of flavors from our estate grown Sauvignon Blanc grapes.

2013 Sandstone MerlotOur Sandstone Merlot is a great display of Bordeaux grapes from hillside and valley floor vineyards, each of which gives distinct aromatics and structure to the wine. The estate grown and certified sustainable vineyards that make up this wine are harvested, fermented and aged separately in barrel for about a year before they are blended together. We add Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah and Petite Verdot to the blend which then ages for another 6-12 months. Although lighter in structure than a Cabernet Sauvignon, this Merlot combines solid, yet silky tannins with diverse fruit flavors to make a lasting impression
