Located on Adelaida Road, Alta Colina is producing organic Rhone varietals on high altitude slopes of fractured shale. The label is a collaboration between Bob and Maggie Tillman, a father daughter team producing fruit on the westside of Paso Robles. This label is family run and it’s not uncommon to find Maggie Tillman pouring with tasting staff. The bar is standing only and indoor/outdoor seating is limited. The tasting room feels genuine and the product speaks for itself. Don’t miss the 12 O’Clock High Viognier or Toasted Slope Syrah. Enjoy a tasting flight for $15 waived with a 2 bottle purchase. Groups of six or more require a reservation. A very sweet German Sheppard is a permanent fixture at this location, pets are welcome but they should get along with other dogs.

  • 2014 12 O Clock High Viognier
In early tasting, this Viognier showed lovely tropical fruit aromatics with a distinct toasty oakiness. Over time, the palate has integrated, with the fruit marrying well with the oak and rich, unctuous flavors filling the palate. This plushness carries through to the smooth, toasty tones of the finish.
  • 2013 Ann's Block Petite Sirah
As always, the wine is an explosion of blackberries on the palate. Unadorned by oak, the fruit is extremely concentrated in the mouth, showing dusty tannins and a mineral texture that continue through the long finish.

  • 2014 Claudia Cuvee
Our Claudia Cuvee is our absolute favorite food white!  We save this as a fall release because it’s an ideal pairing with cozy fall and winter meals.  The richness of the Marsanne matches the heaviness of potatoes and stuffing without just being another heavy element on the table!  Claudia Cuvee can also hang with stews, slow-cooked chicken, or homemade pastas.
  • 2012 GSM
This blended wine offers a gorgeous and complex nose. Cherry, strawberry, and dried rose petal aromas combine with berry notes–leading to a bright, fruit-forward mouth. Smoky oak flavors emphasize the velvety tannins. The wine’s exceptional balance progresses nicely to a clean finish, both mineral and fruity.

  • 2015 Model Citizen
Rich mouthfeel with subtle notes of honey and pear.
  • 2013 Old 900 Syrah
Classic Syrah aromas decorate this black and intensely powerful wine – spice, tar, black pepper, lavender, and turned earth. Slightly drying in the front of the mouth, the wine immediately shows off its structure and longevity, but this develops into a plush, mouth-filling finish densely packed with ripe plum and black fruit.
  • 2013 Sun Worshipper
A first for Alta Colina.  This Mourvèdre-driven blend shows off why Alta Colina is an ideal site for this late-ripening Rhône variety.  Our altitude and sun exposure ripen our hilltop Mourvèdre block to its fullest potential.  Taste it and know for yourself!
