This is a wonderful expression of a Spanish heritage grape in California. True varietal expression with redolent flavors of blue and red berries, cocoa, and a bitter chocolate fill the mouth. An excellent wine for any roast meat or on its own for meeting friends.

This is a true Rhone blend of six grapes from the Demetria vineyard, a biodynamically farmed site north of Los Olivos. Frequently in Cote Rotie, vignerons will coferment white and red wine grapes to raise the acidity, aromas, and add texture to the mid-palate. This wine has touches of Viognier, Marsanne, and Roussanne that confer an intoxicatingly floral nose of lavender, rose, and peach blossom. The wine is boldly layered with enticing layers of spice, smoke, and umami. The Grenache adds texture and body, the Syrah delivers red fruit and velvet, and the Mouvedre brings lingering tannins and a lip-smacking finish. In the European tradition, blends are better, and California wines do achieve elegant intrique.
