Rich, spicy blackberry, dark plum, earthy cocoa aromas with background oak. Lush, round palate impression with varietal plum-berry fruit, a soft cocoa-blackberry middle and finely-integrated oak adding “fatness” and complexity. Textbook Petite Sirah character with only moderate tannins – virtually “elegant” for the varietal. Sinfully drinkable now but should evolve for another 2-3+ years. Long cocoa-berry finish with oak underneath. Very “polished” style.

Well-oaked aromas of earthy plum, dark berry spice and light “savory meatiness.” Lush palate – rich, very well-structured flavors of meaty blackberry, dark plum, cocoa, earth spices and a hint of violet. Excellent tannins, full middle fruit and a long finish – complex Penman Syrah! The oak level integrates well with the big fruit and tannins. A rich mouthful that is drinkable now, will be better in 2-3 years, and can go for a decade. Obviously one of our very best Syrahs ever.

Rich, enticing aromas of cherry, cassis, mocha, oak and a background note of earthy tobacco spice. Ripe, lush palate of blueberry-currant fruit with layers of mocha and dry herb – showing very nice palate texture. The “tobacco” note comes through with some air and the overall structure is fat (but) with medium tannins. Complex Merlot – multi-faceted, showing the best of Penman’s Merlot fruit character. Very “upper-shelf” quality that can challenge Napa-Sonoma Merlots.
