This certified organic estate-owned vineyard was planted in the 1920’s on primarily limestone soil. Though the vines are head-trained and dry-farmed, the soil plays the most important role in distinguishing this vineyard on the west side of Paso Robles. The wines have a brightness, and chalk and floral characteristic aromas unique to the site, and to Zinfandel in general. Drought stress and low yields in the vineyard lend more depth than ever before to this iteration of Pesenti. Bright fruits like red & black cherry on the nose pull you in, with lively acidity balanced by the dry, slightly dusty tannin make for an intensely gratifying palate.Pairing Suggestion:

The roots are free to roam deeply as the soil is solid sand for 40 feet down. The wine is stunning: suave, complex and powerfully elegant. A bright, lifted nose of red fruits, dried flowers & sandalwood, and an incredibly dense yet lithe texture on the palate. This wine feels like truly old-school California, reminiscent of what wine might’ve tasted like when it was first made from these vines well over 100 years ago!Pairing Suggestion:

Just a mile and a half from the Napa border on the Sonoma side of the Mayacamas, the vines are planted along steep, contoured terraces. Finding old vineyards is rare enough, but ancient hillside head-trained vines located 900 feet up? Downright extraordinary. There’s so much going on in the ’14 Fredericks, it’s hard to know where to begin. Baking spices, pure blue fruits, smoldering embers, and liqueur comprise the nose, while the palate shows ripe dark blue & black fruits, satiating umami flavors, and well-resolved mountain tannins. A complete, utterly expressive wine that’s drinking exceptionally well now!Pairing Suggestion:

These ungrafted, head-trained vines are planted on very steep limestone slopes. The high pH of the soil makes for a very high acid wine, elevating the ripe fruit flavors from this historic certified organic vineyard. Imagine all the flavors of Pesenti, turned up to 11. Though the sites share many similarities, one big difference is that Ueberroth’s vines are 40 years older, and it shows. More structure, density, and extraction; greater tannin, darker fruits, and even more powerful. A perfectly balanced monolith of a wine.Pairing Suggestion:

Located in Sonoma County, this vineyard is nearly hidden in downtown Santa Rosa. Planted in 1915 on 2.5 acres, the vineyard is farmed organically by Alida Morzenti, granddaughter of the Zampattis. The Zinfandel vines are interspersed with Palomino & Golden Chasselas, and planted on a cool sloping site with large rocks scattered throughout the warm Franciscan soils. The wines are balanced, aromatic, bright and beautiful. Exuberant and extremely fragrant, the ’14 Zampatti has got it goin’ ON. Black cherry & raspberry jam, black olives, and the warm stony soils are all evident on the nose. Excellent pepper & spice, bright, buoyant acidity, and a light on its feet texture, even at 15.abv!Pairing Suggestion:

As our new winery is located on Bell Road, we named this wine for the eponymous (and notorious) “hanging” Judge Bell, who presided over the nearby town of Plymouth during its Gold Rush heyday. Harking from vines that average 80 years of age, the wine shows quintessential Amador granitic tannins & briary fruits. An intensely brooding wine, the 2014 Judge Bell is the darkest to date. Red fruits, braised meats and graphite on the nose lead into a deep palate with medium weight & tannin.Pairing Suggestion:

There is no better way to gauge the classic character of old vine Zinfandel in California than through this wine. In true old vine fashion, this wine was one of the hardest hit by the drought, and production was down 40% as a result. What a pity, as the wine sure is pretty…2014 has pure, powerful fruits, appetizing spice, and the kind of natural weight, depth, and extraction that can only come from old vines.Pairing Suggestion:
